About the Feature

Against the backdrop of rising study abroad costs due to the weak yen and increasingly strict U.S. visa requirements—factors that have raised the barriers to traditional study destinations in Europe and North America—the article highlights an alternative pathway: the American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP).

Through this program, students study at a Malaysian university for two years before transferring to universities in North America or Europe. The feature introduces Mr. Yamashiro’s journey of transferring from a university in Malaysia to a university in Canada, showcasing how this pathway enabled him to pursue a global education efficiently and strategically.

The article also explores how his high school exchange experience influenced his career development, how he built his English proficiency while studying in Malaysia, and how these experiences contributed to his successful transfer to a Canadian university, job-hunting process, and current professional career—illustrated with concrete, real-life episodes.

Looking Ahead

At our center, we will continue our efforts to raise awareness of Malaysia as a leading study abroad destination beyond traditional Western countries, and to share its unique advantages with a wider audience.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has continuously supported the Malaysia Study Abroad Support Center.

We appreciate your continued interest in our initiatives and future activities.
